When Kickstarter turned 10 in April 2019 and launched a digital campaign to celebrate, I was given an opportunity to create one of the most challenging, exciting, and photographically unique bodies of work in my career to date.
The campaign’s visual theme was inspired by Rube Goldberg machines, used to convey anticipation, momentum, and impact, while highlighting creative projects in unexpected ways. These photo treatments acted as backdrops for a library of custom-designed illustrations and animations that were activated as users scrolled down the page. Each shape was lit and photographed individually, and collaged together in post-production to create kinetic and colorful compositions that brought our concept to life.
