Lauren Renner is a Creative Director with a background as an award-winning Photographer and Conceptual Artist. She uses her unique expertise to lead the creative development of 360 brand and advertising campaigns spanning print, digital, OOH, social, and broadcast.
She is known for using photography as a tool for championing inclusivity and underrepresented talent in media. Her vision, intimate technical knowledge of every step in the production process, and ability to galvanize creative teams around powerful ideas have contributed to her success as an exceptional leader, collaborator, and internationally-acclaimed fine artist. The strength of her work was recognized with Honorable Mentions in Advertising by the 2019 International Photography Awards and helped Kickstarter win the Design Visionary Award from Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum during the 2020 National Design Awards.
Lauren has worked with many world-class brands that have pioneered their own market categories. She most recently served as the Creative Director of Thinx, Inc. where she was recognized by the executive team for making their family of 5 brands feel more human through innovative creative direction. During her tenure she crafted the highly-acclaimed campaign art direction for Thinx's groundbreaking Plus Size launch and led the creative development of over twenty 360 campaigns including 7 TV commercials. She also led a team of in-house designers, copywriters, and producers to craft Thinx, inc’s refreshed brand identity, and served as the driving force behind it’s application as the company transitioned from DTC business into global mass-market retail. At an organizational level, Lauren helped craft the company’s DE&I strategy and ensured the translation of those values into every step of the creative process. Under her leadership, every Thinx set was a safe place for talent and production partners of different cultural backgrounds, gender identities, body shapes, sizes, and abilities to come and do their best work.
As a conceptual artist and photographer, Lauren is known for creating the internationally-acclaimed photography series In Others’ Words. She has presented her work as a TEDxAdventure speaker in Wroclaw, Poland, and pushed conceptual boundaries as a collaborating artist with the Marina Abramovic Institute. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions all over the world, and she has been mentored by some of the top creative minds in fashion and fine art photography including Patrick Demarchelier, Tina Barney, Mitch Epstein, and Elizabeth Heyert.
She is currently based in New York City, and open to both freelance and full-time opportunities.
